Mead Memorial Foreign Affairs Talk: Middle East Chaos & Energy Revolutions
Location:
Auditorium
Time:
7:30 pm
Molly Williamson will address "At the Nexus of Middle East Chaos and Energy Revolutions" on Monday, April 22, at 7:30 in the Auditorium. Molly Williamson is a former Foreign Service Officer who served six U.S. Presidents over the course of a long, far-flung career. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, she held senior policy positions at the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, Defense and Energy, where she was the Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Energy, with global responsibilities at the nexus of foreign and energy policies.
Molly observes, "The Middle East region is now in its eighth year of unrest. It is also the largest repository of conventional oil and the second largest repository of conventional natural gas. At a time when growing calls for environmentally responsible energy sources are demanding change in global energy use, the U.S. 'shale gale' is shaking the conventional marketplace. What are the implications for the planet?"
